Communication Leader

Description

We are looking for a talented Communication Leader to join our team specializing in Marketing Communications for our Cummins DBU Headquarters in Indianapolis, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Plan, manage, and produce communications and related materials to meet Cummins' strategies and objectives.

  • Manage, coach, and mentor professional and hourly staff; provide guidance and direction, and delegate work appropriately.

  • Build, lead, and execute strategic communications planning, including marketing promotional plans and communications plans.

  • Identify, coach, and manage process improvement and functional excellence.

  • Represent, adhere to, and champion the Cummins brand.

  • Write, edit, and create content and strategic messaging adhering to relevant style guides.

  • Set targets for data-driven decisions; compile, analyze, and utilize metrics, data, and analytics.

  • Lead functional training and create and deliver presentations.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Customer Focus : Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.

  • Creative Communication Design : Presenting information from a variety of sources in a compelling message through storytelling to engage target audiences; applying the appropriate tools and media types to create effective, high-quality visual and experiential media.

  • Intuitive Listening and Adapting Solutions : Translating needs, expectations, or asks from customers, stakeholders, etc. into actionable solutions through active listening and intuition; choosing or producing solutions (e.g. process change, tool, product, service, etc.) to meet or exceed the customers’ or stakeholders’ needs or expectations or to provide value.

  • Digital Media Savvy : Leveraging current and emerging digital media strategies (e.g. email automation, social media, content management systems, etc.) to influence buyer behavior or target audiences to a desired action.

  • Brand Management : Creating competitive advantage through brand recognition; positioning the brand to meet or exceed stakeholder expectations; applying brand standards to create a consistent perception and defend the company's reputation.

Education/Experience

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in communications, marketing, or a related subject required.

  • MBA, Master's in Communications, Master's in Marketing, or equivalent degree highly preferred.

Additional Information

  • Digital experience preferred (emerging trends, digital for business, metrics, paid vs. organic, advertising content).

  • Graphic design skills, visual communications channel capabilities preferred.

  • Global perspective and experience preferred.

  • Client/account management preferred.

  • System integration/account management for marketing roles preferred.

  • 6 Sigma, Value Stream Transformation, continuous improvement experience preferred.

  • B2B experience preferred.

  • Sets and owns the Components internal communications strategy with a team of two direct reports

  • Previous education or experience within Human Resources and/or experience crafting HR communications is preferred.

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Provides strategic communications support to Components General Managers and segment President.

  • Consultative support to the Marcom/Internal Communication leader

  • Strong M&A experience and works to lead communication integration activities, projects, and initiatives.

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to interpret and simplify complex technical topics for a broader audience while also adhering to AP writing style in all communication

  • Pulls regular metrics/analytics on current tactics and uses a data-driven approach for recommending or evaluating new communication tactics across all mediums and maintains consistent messaging, tone of voice, and visual identity.

  • Supports in creating content for key leader meetings and town halls in collaboration with support staff that engage Components employees.

  • Ensures alignment between the business unit(s) and Cummins utilizing a “One Cummins” approach in all communications.

  • Strong relationship-building skills are essential as you will be working alongside key stakeholders to gain buy-in, insight, and alignment.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on the overall impact to the Components segment while maintaining the flexibility to manage impromptu requests.

  • Be creative – research and understand the latest trends in the internal communication space and how they could be applied to meet Components communication objectives, as well as tactics being used in other parts of Cummins.

  • Ability to convey information graphically via PowerPoint slides, HTML emails, and infographics preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of Components and the on and off-highway markets is preferred.

  • Amount of Travel: Up to 10%

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $114,400 - $171,600

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
