This is an exciting opportunity in Talent, OR for a Functional Safety Lead- Embedded Software. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.

Applies technical expertise on complex components or projects with minimal supervision.
Leads small projects or portions of large projects.
Provides technical direction for a project or a project team.
Participates as a key contributor and is accountable for project success.
Influences at department or program management level.
Provides input on program-related decisions.
Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.
Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages expertise on other projects.
Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.
Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.
Skills and Experience Required:
Five or more years experience in a similar discipline.
This role is an individual contributor in software engineering for Li-ion battery development.
Relocation to Talent, Oregon required.
Experience defining/refining requirements for software systems with functional safety requirements (ideally ISO 26262 and/or UL1998).
Experience collaborating with other engineering disciplines; System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and the regulating organizations to define/refine requirements.
Work with software developers to architect/design safety critical software components.
Define and execute validation/verification tests for safety critical systems.
Academic training in software engineering is required.
Proficient in linear and object based programming languages for embedded real-time control systems.
Proficient in following a structured software development process such as one certified under the Capability Maturity Model Integration at maturity level 3 or better.
Knowledge of electric vehicle applications, including lithium-ion battery systems is highly preferred.
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
College, University, or equivalent degree in Engineering required. Advanced degrees are preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
