This is an exciting opportunity in Shoreview, Minnesota for a Senior Demand Planning Specialist. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • The Demand Planning Specialist will coordinate the creation of the Demand plans for use in Synchronized Business Planning (SBP) within each small to mid-sized business and/or Line of Business.

  • This role will need to liaise and consult with sales, marketing, brand/product organizations, Finance and Supply Chain to facilitate the planning process.

  • Work with Demand Control Leader to understand the implications of near order trends to longer term outlook. Leads the development of the rolling 36 month forecast and support the 5yr demand forecast to support Strategic and Aggregate Planning Process.

  • Maintain integrity of the Demand plan and take corrective actions promptly to ensure Demand Plan stability; escalate as appropriate.

  • Manage across cross functional and cross-BU interactions to ensure a dependable and efficient demand management, including daily operations.

  • Use knowledge of Business / Customers / Markets/ Products to efficiently challenge Demand Plan assumptions to improve the quality and robustness of the demand plan.

  • Drive assumption management in demand planning.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects that align with Cummins Operating System and Functional Excellence direction and leverage common processes tools, and information systems.

  • Support Corporate Demand Management initiatives and lead the global business unit demand planning process to ensure global alignment.

  • Manage consolidated sales projections for volumes and financial implications in both the monthly demand planning process and to deliver to Strategic Planning Process while working cross-functionally to support the annual operating planning process.

  • Create common demand management processes and procedures by establishing collaborative business partner relationships.

  • Approach daily problem solving and continuous improvement opportunities strategically and tactically to achieve performance targets.

  • Develop, understand, and improve necessary Key Performance Indicators.

  • Manage, coach, and develop staff; work with employees to set goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.

Business Planning/Strategy - Performs business planning & strategic analysis at an advanced level in a wide range of situations with a broad business knowledge (customers, products, macro-economic trends). Negotiates with partners and others.

Coach and Develop - Empower others, through effective situational coaching, with excellent change management and communication skills.

Excellent Communication Skills – (verbal and written) in order to communicate and influence cross-functionally, influence and mitigate through leadership and have the ability to verbally present information to key stakeholders

Analytical Reasoning - Applies a wide variety of analytical tools and processes (e.g. Six Sigma) on a regular basis to complete key projects and solve complex problems.

Demand Forecasting Concepts And Processes – or (Forecasting/Demand Management) Understanding how customers, both external and internal, forecasts are derived. Understand the concepts of forecasting and how different market segments could lead to the use of different forecasting tools and methodologies. Understand the process to translate the forecast demand into production requirements and how the decisions need to support Cummins strategy and not just a business unit strategy.

Usage of Demand Management Tools – This skill enables the management of demand through software tools purchased or designed in-house. The ability to troubleshoot problems with the standard procedures and perform basic database management maintenance.

Financial Planning - Ability to develop and control a process that delivers an annual operating plan that achieves the objectives of the business while meeting the corporate guidelines and goals

Supply Chain Knowledge - Ability to develop and control a process that delivers an annual operating plan that achieves the objectives of the business while meeting the corporate guidelines and goals

Other required skills:


  • _ Highly proficiency in Excel is essential to the successful delivery of many aspects of the job.

  • _ Ability to work cross functionally and communicate with multiple levels of the organization.

  • _ Project management knowledge a plus.

  • _ Self-motivated, excellent time management with the ability to react to shifting priorities and cross functional team availability.

Experience


  • _ Minimum three to five years of relevant experience a similar role, in a global, matrix organization.

  • _ Previous experience in reading, analyzing, interpreting, and drawing valid and concise conclusions and recommendations.

  • Experience with working and communication with all levels and functions, including senior leadership .

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

Undergraduate degree required or equivalent experience. Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
