This is an exciting opportunity for Electronic Controls - Technical Specialist #MN156 in Shoreview, Minnesota

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Apply specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices to assigned tasks to develop and support activities in the area of electrical and electronic systems, and electrical power systems including: Open and closed loop controls, diagnostics and OBD Algorithms, Electronic control modules and related microcontroller architectures, embedded software, sensors and switches, actuators, alternators/generators, relays, Ignition systems, Battery systems, Electrical and Electronic tool interfaces, Distributed/embedded power generation, conventional centralized power generation, islanded/standalone power system, transmission, and distribution systems.

  • Develop electronic specifications and design electronic systems and components to meet requirements and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Implement and generate software while verifying and validating the related controls hardware and software.

  • Track life-cycle obsolescence.

  • Utilize Embedded Software Design to track the electronic elements within the system of Open and Closed Loop Controls, Diagnostics and On-Board Diagnostics, and provide support for releasing, tuning, and troubleshooting controls hardware/software.

  • Conduct Analysis and Performance simulation of Electric Generators/Alternators and motors, using mathematic models and computer aided engineering/scientific design tools such as MATLAB/Simulink or MATHCAD to simulate steady state, dynamic and transient operation of Electrical and Electronic systems, and electrical power systems.

  • Utilize Harness and Interconnect Design for specification and selection of connectors, wire gauge, length, routing, tie-down, protection mechanisms, and maintaining/troubleshooting hardware.

  • Apply diagnostics for component health and for monitoring engine and subsystem performance.

  • Troubleshoot diagnostic problems and make minor diagnostic design changes by developing and calibrating algorithms.

  • Perform Product Integration, Verification & Validation, including component, integration, system or performance testing, test planning and documentation, and test environment.

  • Create or map tests to requirements and needs for several projects.

  • Develop and maintain requirements for components, systems/ sub-systems, or other Requirements Engineering processes and tools within a project.

  • Utilize Systems Definition and Design including functional allocation of subsystem requirements to components and architecture definition, capability determination through system modeling and testing, and/or development of subsystem interface agreements, installation/application guidelines and quality assurance procedures.

  • Train and coach concept design/architecture in a wide range of work situations at an advanced level.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Positions require a Master’s degree inElectrical, Computer or Controls Engineering, or related fieldand 2 yearsof experience as aControls or Systems Engineer, or related position.

  • Alternatively, the employer will accept aBachelor’s degree inElectrical, Computer or Controls Engineering, or related fieldand 5 yearsof experience as aControls or Systems Engineer, or related position.

JOB SITE: Shoreview, Minnesota

WORK HOURS: 40 hours/week - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience plus bonus.
