Skills and Experience Required:
3-5 years work experience leadering of a small technical group.
Paralleling Systems Applications: Extensive knowledge in the application of paralleling systems and SCADA systems for such applications. Includes knowledge of the relevant codes and standards and the ability to meet such standards as NFPA 110, NFPA 99, UL891, UL1558, ANSI Switchgear Standards, etc.
Paralleling Systems Components: Must have extensive knowledge of the inner workings of major paralleling system components such as Cummins Power Generation Power Command Control generator controls, Automatic Transfer Switch controllers of various manufacturers, Switchgear and Circuit Breaker operation for UL and IEC based designs of various manufacturers and voltages. Should have good working knowledge of typical industrial control system components such as control relays, protective relays, power quality meters and transducers, networking equipment, PC’s, and associated software.
Commissioning of Power Systems: Must have knowledge and experience with commissioning paralleling generator sets, ATS, switchgear, and the associated control systems and SCADA systems that automate such processes.
Communication Skills: Shall have the ability to communicate complicated technical solutions effectively to management, customers, and end users of paralleling systems projects. Be able to work with customers to solve complex application problems along with the project engineering teams and travel to customer locations to influence the application design.
Generator System & Switchgear Design – Authority on principles, techniques, and procedure to interpret complex customer specifications to design onsite power generation systems that meet the requirements for protection, safety, and product performance. Responsible for training of team members on the functional and technical aspects of this design.
Power Transfer Devices – Authority in the application of power transfer devices in a broad range of paralleling system applications. Responsible for training team members in the application of power transfer control and design.
Power Management Techniques – Comprehensive understanding of power management and ability to apply these techniques at an advance level. Responsible for training team members in the proper design of managing power flow through peak shave, base load, load add/shed, and demand management functions.
System Operation & Protection for Low and Medium Voltage Applications – Authority in the application of both low and medium voltage applications. Responsible for training team members in the operation, protection, and design of these applications.
Electrical System Design and Protection – Authority in the design of electrical system overcurrent, utility intertie, and earth fault protection as it relates to paralleling systems and switchgear. Responsible for training team members in the application of protection.
Cross Functional Engagement with Stakeholders and Customers: Work pro-actively to increase communications with internal and external customers including but not limited to: Manufacturing, Distribution, Engineering Development, Mechanical, Commissioning, Software and Hardware Engineering.
Project Management: Plan and implement new templates and designs for Gas Projects, ETO Diesel and Protection. Support customer orders by managing the design and resources for specific subsystems per the PD&I engineering design process. Ensure on time delivery and capacity planning as appropriate.
Sales Support and Project Design: Proactively engage with Distribution Sales, Territory Managers, Upstream Influencing, and Internal Sales to design Digital Master Control and Switchgear projects that minimize cost, increase reliability, ensure on time delivery, and differentiate us from the competition. This will include on-board approvals, customer site visits, customer witness tests, conference calls, etc.
Sub-System Engineering Design Leadership: Lead the engineering team from a sub-system design standpoint, independently guiding an engineering team to continuously improve our products and projects by ensuring major subsystems are designed with high quality and at competitive costs. Coach and Guide the engineers to provide detailed and clear designs to allow for the project engineering team to meet customer requirements. Be the owner of all subsystem design standards and be responsible for the development of protective relay and trip unit settings specific to an applications requirements. Invest in engineering depth in the team to allow for implementation of increasingly complex systems and allowing us to always increase our offer capability in the market. This should be done through training, experience, and coaching.

Interfaces with sales and marketing teams to designand deliver client solutions.
Manages the development and delivery of trainingon client applications
Leads a medium sized technical group and manages team toimplement leadership's vision.
Establishes employee performance standards; workscollaboratively to set goals and to address areas of deficiency.
Influences business-area leadership decisions.
Manages financial controls and risk, ensuring operations areexecuted within established budget.
Identifies issues, problems, and opportunities to supportcontinuous improvement initiatives.
Formulates employee and department development plans fortransferring technical knowledge.
Coaches and motivates employees; provides guidance anddirection on resolving problems and issues.
Delegates and assigns work, considering employee skills anddevelopment needs.
Advises leaders regarding the identification and resolutionof complex problems.
Works with employees to establish their inividualdevelopment and career plans.
Assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.
Installation Quality Assurance (IQA) - Has an extensive understanding of the Installation Review Process, including the tools and processes associated with the various markets. Is capable of identifying potential issues early in the process and can provide clear guidance to the customer on how to resolve this issues keeping in mind both the customers and Cummins best interested. Can teach others to perform IQAs.
Product Knowledge - Knowledge of products and product lines. Able to represent the features and benefits to sell the products. Able to recognize customer needs and suggest product applications to solve problems and create benefits for the customer. Able to teach others to formulate effective messages and represent the features and benefits of the product.
Cross-Functional Design Review - Recognized as an authority of cross-functional design review skill and is contacted regarding this skill by the rest of the organization and is able to train and coach others in developing and applying cross-functional design review and is considered the person to contact as the expert on this skill.
Set The Aim - Recognizes when assumptions need to be challenged to ensure effective execution of strategic plans; holds direct reports accountable for setting the aim. Guides leaders on how to create clear and compelling pictures, objectives and implementation plans; ensures key strategies in the organization have appropriate implementation plans and measurements.
Coach & Develop - Recognizes opportunities with direct reports to provide coaching; is constantly on the lookout for development opportunities for direct reports; over time, builds reputation for developing and promoting direct reports. Encourages leaders at all levels to make coaching and developing others a priority; guides leaders on how to effectively coach and develop others.
College, University, or equivalent degree in Engineering required. Advanced degree or extended specific training are preferred. green belt certification preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
