We are looking for a talented VPI Manufacturing Engineer to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Power Systems in Seymour, Indiana.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Leading the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of a manufacturing processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.
Impacting the work by utilizing continuous improvement tools, following the Cummins standards, and leading the development of manufacturing standards and working methods.
Executing VPI responsibilities for new product introduction (preparing required VPI documents to support M Gate Review milestones).
Lead by applying the knowledge or use of manufacturing principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes.
Ensuring the communications with and influences key external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members.
Working effectively with internal and external resources on specific project assignments.
Leading the advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices as they are applied to Cummins.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Senior level manufacturing background (3-5 years) with demonstrated experience in automotive style plant assembly and manufacturing.
Ability to demonstrate successful implementation of New Product start-up solutions/equipment in a production environment.
Demonstrate creativity in solutions and ability to facilitate cross functional teams in driving toward a solution in a timely manner.
Ability to define equipment needs (assembly equipment, torque &assembly fail safe strategy, quotes, purchase, installation, commissioning, documentation, training), using a PFMEA approach to manage risk.
Experience in the design & acquisition of custom assembly equipment, lift fixtures, tooling, and gauges.
Strong communication and presentation skills, written and oral, including technical material.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent degree required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
