Qualifications

This is an exciting opportunity for Service Engineer Technical Advisor #IN783 in Seymour, Indiana

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Act as a technical liaison between the Cummins field service organization and the Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing organizations to identify, define and prioritize complex product issues and to implement solutions.

  • Identify complex service issues and initiate problem solving, document cost and customer impact information to establish priority for corrective action utilizing the 7 Step Product Problem Solving Process.

  • Incorporate Fault Tree Analysis into the 7-step process. Lead or manage failure analysis processes with Field Service, Warranty, and Engineering to communicate and define issues.

  • Utilize knowledge of Warranty and Policy Support to support OEM’s, Distributors, and end user customers to maintain excellent partnerships and relationships.

  • Partner with distributors, dealers and customers to support the investigation of complex escalated product issues, discuss solutions, and conduct training because of complexity, longevity and criticality and Apply Rapid Problem-Solving process and use databases to help solve problems.

  • Select and perform the required measurements for data gathering and analysis to determine data quality and to apply predefined applications to data sets.

  • Utilize Hazard Analysis and lead Hazard Analysis teams to support product development teams and problem-solving teams via the installation of field test engines or components and the monitoring and reporting of reliability data.

  • Ability to conduct Field Investigations, including organizing the investigation with field organization and using service tools for diagnosis, analyzing data and generating a field investigation report.

  • Utilize Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) to ensure good quality process changes for existing products.

  • Participate proactively during reviews to ensure the serviceability of new components and products including the monitoring of new product performance.

  • Create initial publication and subsequent revision of service literature.

  • Ensure new information regarding technical solutions and service procedures is communicated to the service organization.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • 7 Step Product Problem Solving Process

  • Fault Tree Analysis

  • Failure analysis processes

  • Rapid Problem-Solving process

  • Select and perform the required measurements for data gathering and analysis

  • Hazard Analysis

  • Field Investigations, including organizing the investigation with field organization and using service tools

  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Position requires a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field 3 years of experience as a Service Engineer or related position.

  • Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience as a Service Engineer or related position.

WORK HOURS: 40 hours/week - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience plus bonus.
