We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineering Drafting Technician to join our team for our facility in Seymour, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Utilizes advanced skills, knowledge, and experiences for creating and maintaining specifications (drawings and models) of Cummins products per company, industry, national, and international standards, while positively impacting the organization's performance.

  • Creates complex models and drawings and perform checking for drawings and models.

  • Ability to perform all of the key responsibilities of Product Design Technician Level II;

  • Ensures model and drawing quality.

  • Creates and maintains product specifications utilizing Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing.

  • Utilizes Computer Aided Design (CAD) data management tools for configuration control and to maintain security.

  • Ensures application of company, industry, national, and international standards.

  • Processes internal engineering work requests.

  • Engages with required functional areas as needed.

  • Participates in the maintenance of standards and practices which ensure quality.

  • Mentors and trains less experienced Product Designers.

  • Checks models and drawings prior to release.

  • Creates assemblies to ensure fit to mating parts.

  • Works with engineering to generate concept models.

  • Participates in and/or leads Drawing Quality Reviews.

  • Creates and maintains quality engineering product drawings and solid models through the application of company, industry, national, and international standards.

  • Processes internal engineering Work Requests by communicating and working directly with originators of the Work Requests; delivers completed work requests on schedule or contact the customer to modify the schedule as necessary.

  • Participates in Design Reviews as necessary.

  • Leads or participates in the Drawing Quality Review process as needed.

  • Engages with required functional areas to review completed drawings and models and modify as needed. Contributes to the design of components through layout studies and dimensional stack ups.

  • Checks the work of other Drafting Technicians and Apprentices.

  • Understands and applies appropriate company and department rules and guidelines to work.

  • Works with and trains apprentices and technicians.

  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.

  • Coordinates programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking. Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures.

  • Leads and participate in improvement projects.

  • Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers.

  • Knows and complies with all safety policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates confidentiality as required.

  • Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action.

  • Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to get the job done.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

  • A regionally applicable Certification (e.g. US Department of Labor) or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college program in a relevant field of study.

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification

  • OR Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience

  • OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • OR Relevant military education and experience.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

  • This is a Hybrid Remote position

  • 1st Shift: M - F, 7 AM – 5 PM (Flexible)

  • Pay starting at $31.50/HR or higher, based on experience level.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
