Marine Application Engineer
The Cummins Distributions Business Unit helps Cummins by providing outstanding support to our customers.This is an exciting opportunity in California for a Marine Application Engineer .
This dual customer/product focused position serves as the senior technical liaison between OEMs and represents our customers during new product development programs. Applying Cummins’ products to customer vehicles requires the development of technical specifications, implementing new design configurations, and delivering high performance, low-cost equipment and system solutions integrated with customers’ products in a variety of applications. Integrating high quality and optimized customer solutions requires the interaction with sales and marketing teams.
This particular position is focused on the marine business, primarily responsible for projects in California and Hawaii. Day to day activities include ownership of the technical aspect of projects supporting marine engine sales in the region, both commercial and recreational segments. The selected candidate is required to be located in California in support of marine OEM's, local dealers, customer sites, and shipyards.

Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications :
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
Ability to apply a strong technical background with both mechanical and electrical aptitude during troubleshooting of customer issues on marine engine and related sub-systems. Confident providing installation guidance on-site at shipyards as well as remotely over the phone or video conference with customer base.
Demonstrated proficiency with 3D CAD modeling, 2D detail drawings, and supporting analysis (such as FEA) is a plus.
Emphasis for hands-on experiences with customer facing activities including travel to remote sites.
Ability to create and perform complex commissioning plans on new construction and repower vessels.
Practical experience working in a production team environment with knowledge of stakeholder and customer needs. Emphasis on experience with Quality Assurance (QA) checks in upfit as well as engine installation process including new construction and repower of vessels.
Primary location is Irvine, CA but other locations can be considered such as San Leandro, CA, Santa Fe Spring, CA or possibly existing Cummins locations in California.
