This is an exciting opportunity in Rocky Mount, NC for a Senior Test Engineer. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading Supply Chain projects.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

Designs and implements test processes. Evaluates, recommends, and implements automated test tools and strategies of components or products in laboratory or actual usage applications.

Develops, maintains, and upgrades complex automated test scripts and architectures for application products.

Analyzes test results to provide recommendation and guidance in root cause of test failure events.

Understands end product specific functional test during assembly.

Evaluates, recommends, and implements automated test tools and strategies.

Requires cross functional knowledge of product engineering, quality, manufacturing engineering, safety and facilities.

Coaches and mentors less experienced Test Engineers.



Programmable Logic Controller (Plc) Technologies - Involves understanding and being able to use factory floor Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) technologies. Can design and implement new Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) solutions. Can specify equipment and materials for a project. Able to help with installation, startup, troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance and operation.

Fundamentals Of Safety - Comprehensive knowledge of occupational safety and health compliance, including federal regulations for general industry. Detailed understanding of how the provisions of the local workplace health and safety legislation may be implemented, rights and responsibilities under the legislation, the appeals process, recordkeeping, and voluntary protection programs. Understanding of general industry standards and the requirements of the more frequently referenced standards. Also includes knowledge of basic safety concepts such as personal protective equipment, behavior based safety, confined space entry, etc. Has a thorough understanding of safety regulations. Develops and implements an effective safety system to ensure compliance.

Engine Electronics - Involves having a detailed knowledge of control software structure and hardware content to be able to navigate using available interface tools. Able to discuss functionality with controls development engineers. Detailed knowledge of engine control hardware and software. Can interface with the product development teams evaluating engine functions and can over-ride or disable/enable internal functions.

Engine Functionality And Performance - Detailed knowledge of engine operations and performance evaluation. Able to evaluate performance data and determine proper operation. Can design and develop new systems and functions (tools) to evaluate and troubleshoot engine functions and performance.

Engine Test Control Systems - Detailed knowledge of engine test software and hardware. Able to navigate and manipulate installed systems. Expert at engine test control systems in the company. Extensive training, experience, and ability with engine test control systems. Can be contacted by the rest of the organization regarding engine test control systems. Can specify, design and implement new test control systems and is able to teach others how to do the same. Expertise level would allow for consultation on other projects.

Sensor Technology And Measurement - Involves understanding the functionality of factory floor sensing technologies. This includes analog and digital position and process monitoring. Expert(4): Expert in sensor technology and measurement at the company. Extensive training, experience, and ability with sensor technology and measurement. Can be contacted by the rest of the organization regarding sensor technology and measurement. Can specify, design solutions and is able to teach others how to do the same. Expertise level would allow for consultation on other projects.

Manage Execution - Assigns responsibilities; delegates to and empowers others; removes obstacles; allows for and contributes needed resources; coordinates work efforts when necessary; monitors progress. Demonstrated results indicating deep knowledge of managing execution. Coordinates performance across regions, teams, and departments on complex projects and work flows. Applies a broad range of planning and monitoring tools. Defines planning and review practices that result in few missed milestones and minimal surprises. Effectively delegates to ensure completion of complex projects and work. Monitors progress of others and redirects efforts when goals change or are not met. Measures effectiveness of execution through defined metrics and disciplined monitoring.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific field required.


Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience plus annualized bonus potential.
