Cummins Sales and Service is looking for a sophomore or higher-level college intern for the Renton, WA (Oakesdale) office. The internship length is targeting a minimum of six months with the option to continue until graduation. If the applicant selected is attending a local university, part-time hours expected during the school year (up to 20 hours/wk). During the summer, the student is expected to work up to 35 hours/wk.

The successful candidate will apply basic knowledge of college-level science and mathematics principles and practices to assigned tasks in the design, development, and validation of products as part of the Engineering team. Assists in creating drawings and validation of test specifications considering application, cost, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service.

Key responsibilities to include:

  • Creates designs using 2D and 3D CAD software and assists with prototyping activities.

  • Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional teams to understand customer needs.

  • Aligns engineering requirements with identified customer expectations.

  • Assists all markets at Cummins on processing standard business needs and documentation.

Qualifications

Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications :

  • Enrolled in a BS Engineering program with a minimum of sophomore level in good standing, with interest in Engineering or Science related career field, is required.

  • Minimal work experience, such as a prior internship, co-op, or other pertinent academic projects is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance course workload along with setting time for work at Cummins during the internship duration.

  • Moderate CAD experience with 2D detail drawings (AutoCAD) and 3D modeling (CREO), a plus.

  • Ability to document and follow common engineering processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate within a team.

  • Working knowledge of desktop software (ie, MS Office) for business organization tasks.
