Preventative Maintenance Youth Apprentice / Co-op - Hourly

Shift(s): 1st& 2nd(Flexible, Monday – Friday)
Assignment Dates: January / February – May / June
Work Location: Neillsville, WI
Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing assigned preventive maintenance tasks on plant production equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform assigned tasks using hand tools and power tools.
Perform routine preventive maintenance, with guidance from senior level maintenance personnel, to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly.
Inspect drives, motors, and belts. Check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions following checklists.
Diagnose mechanical problems and report findings to team lead.
Inspect equipment.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Record maintenance and repair work performed.
Adjust functional parts of devices using hand tools, levels, and straight edges.
Inspect used parts using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Able to recognize problems and present solutions.
Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Interest is cars, farm equipment, electrical, electronics, computer programming, etc.
Desire to establish a technical skill set.
Willingness to work with and learn from members of a team.
Excellent reliability and attendance.

Knowledge of Ohm’s Law and other electrical theories preferred.
Knowledge of electrical measuring and testing devices preferred.
Knowledge ofmechanical systems like hydraulic systems, compressors, weldingmachines, etc. preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
Must be able to walk/stand at least 75% of the time.
Application Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old (by the anticipated start date in January / February).
Must be able to work 19 hours per week.
Must be a current high school student at Neillsville, Granton, Loyal,or Greenwood.
Must submit a copy of high school transcripts that reflect the technical education courses (i.e. machining, auto shop, CAD, welding, etc.)that are currently in process or have been completed.
Must submit a letter of recommendation from a Technical Education/Industrial Arts Teacher and/or from a past employer where a similar skill set was required.
