Description

Utilize specialized knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices to support the marketing effort of new product introduction and existing product change introduction through the development and evaluation of systems and processes for managing production considerations. Utilize technical knowledge of engine and component parts to identify features and benefits that resolve specific customer issues. Manage key product line lifecycles, including assessing when a product should be deemed obsolete. Review cost control processes and corresponding pricing approach taking into consideration product lifecycle. Apply extensive knowledge of engine industry practices to develop strong business relationships with all levels across all business units and multiple functions. Deploy local processes utilizing market analysis to attain market and trends information required to develop a product line plan. Evaluate opportunities to optimize efficiencies in processes for assessing product and market changes. Recommend process changes to ensure global profitability of the product line, including improving controls and efficiencies. Utilize knowledge of processes improvement improve Value Package Introduction (VPI) and Value Package Change processes. Provide key expertise for pricing-related negotiations with external customer programs using knowledge of market positioning strategies. Assess the relative contributions of the multiple engine product lines and develop and execute a product management plan and execute a product management plan that maximizes profitability. Use quality tools including 7 Step problem solving technique and Fault tree analysis to ensure continuous process improvement and propose alternatives or solutions. Meet technical targets within time and budget by applying project management tools and techniques.

Qualifications

Experience and Education:

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience as a Project Coordinator or Project Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Engineering principles and practices; Technical knowledge of engine and component parts to identify features and benefits; Engine industry practices; Market Analysis to attain market and trends information required to develop a product line plan; Assessing product and market changes; Value Package Introduction (VPI) and Value Package Change; Market positioning strategies; 7 Step problem solving technique and Fault tree analysis; Project management tools and techniques.
