The Marine Application Engineering Intern will support engineering projects and Application Engineers by planning and organizing technical and administrative task including report generation, securing technical data and on site testing assistance.


  • Research and acquire engineering data to evaluate component selections.

  • Analyze OEM and design component selection for adherence to Cummins requirements utilizing Cummins software.

  • Prepare engineering Installation Quality Audit (IQA) reports by collecting and summarizing data from customer submissions and testing results.

  • Support Manufacturing product builds and provide details on corrective action where required.

  • Assist Application Engineers during equipment/vehicle testing including cooling test, aftertreatment test, air intake restriction test, exhaust backpressure test, fuel restriction and electrical test.

  • Assist Application Engineers with gains tuning and engine software shutdown and derate testing.

  • Contribute to supplier evaluation and qualification meetings.

  • Maintains project team accomplishments by communicating essential information; coordinating actions; tracking open issues and action items.

  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required with BSME degree at junior level or above.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Able to analyze Information.

  • Possess researching skills.

  • Report research results.

  • Presenting Technical Information.

  • Data Maintenance.

  • General Math skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Must be dependable, innovative, and hands on.

  • Must comply with safety rules and regulations and apply them to daily work routines for personal safety and the safety of others.

  • Must be able to work in different types of environments associated with customers’ location in all types of weather and work conditions. Steel toed shoes required.
