Key responsibilities for this Irvine -based Internal Controls, Senior Analyst :
Documents, tests, and consults on business processes for a business unit, region, or plant.
Documents, tests, and consults on financial controls, company policies, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles at the region or plant level; reviews internal control documentation to ensure that it is accurate and up-to-date.
Prepares process maps and control matrices.
Works with Cummins Sarbanes-Oxley auditors; tracks audit findings; assists work team to resolve financial accounting policy and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles issues.
Participates in process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting and internal control systems.
Coaches and mentors accounting staff on internal controls issues and process documentation.

Solid understanding of general accounting principles and auditing standards
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, solid knowledge of key functions (e.g. Vlookup, Hlookup, Sumif, Pivot Tables, etc.) and use of macros
Process improvement oriented
Attention to detail
Ability to work effectively and collaborate in team environment
Ability to adapt and prioritize
Composure under pressure and tight deadlines
Effective use of logic, planning, and organization
Effective written and oral communication
Intermediate level of relevant work experience required
Public accounting, corporate accounting, internal audit, or equivalent required. Big 4 accounting firm a plus
Perform analysis of key transactions as part of the monthly and quarterly closing activities (e.g. revenue, inventory) with precision and attention to detail
Evaluate spreadsheets, functions (e.g. Vlookup, Hlookup, Sumif, Pivot Tables), and data for integrity, completeness, and accuracy
Prioritize workplan to ensure critical items are addressed timely
Evaluate control design and operating effectiveness
Perform monthly audits of journal entries and reconciliations
Perform audits of service and parts branch and distribution centers across the region
Other projects and tasks as assigned
Education, Licenses, and Certifications :
Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent required
Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or equivalent certification preferred.
