Expectations for this California -based Purchasing Administrator :
Cummins Sales and Service Power Generation business is looking for an experienced purchasing administrator to support the business unit’s profitability and customer satisfaction targets. This position is responsible to perform coordination and administrative activities which includes order, track, receive, and manage inventory to support all business unit projects, sales, and operational tasks.
Key responsibilities to include:
Participates in weekly Power Gen production meetings with up to date data on all materials in process for projects.
Issues Warranty Credit memo to Cummins Power Systems (CPS).
Orders Management – from CPS, MDC, and Distributors (included compliant orders from internal PowerGen group), tracking POs and ship date.
Provides Engineering Change Orders and Requests support – ECR and ECO approval.
Backup support to Project Coordinator position.
Manage part numbers in Visibility (Enterprise Resource Planning System).
Purchase, track, and receive products into inventory. Work with the operations team to manage inventory flow and maintain accurate inventory records.
Review monthly reports to ensure accurate inventory records and data management. Select and purchase merchandise with quality, cost and time requirements. Issues POs to vendor/suppliers, monitor shipments to ensure product delivery, resolve delivery and assist in quality issues.
Identify, develop and maintain qualified vendor sourcing options; negotiate, administer vendor contracts and monitor contract performance.
Maintain records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, material non-conformance reports, and inventories.
Work with vendors, Account Executives, Project Managers, and customers to facilitate purchasing/supply process.
Manage cycle counts, ensure accuracy of inventory and control (packing slip, etc.), allocation of inventory to project for each build, maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials). Maintain inventory database (PPac). Manage stock inventory (batteries, chargers, etc) and excess inventory disposition.
Perform cost management, negotiation, EAU (Estimated Annual Units) disclosure, manage shipments from supplier, tracking return of non-conforming materials.
Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
Allocate stock material to projects in Business Management System & label (pick sticker) for parts to be pulled.
Create / close material work orders on a timely basis, including monthly internal orders.
Establish new vendor set up (request vendor maintenance form / W-9 from vendors).
Process vendor/supplier invoices for payment – ensure no variance from PO and vendor/supplier invoices. Invoice customers.

Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications :
Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required.
2 years of Purchasing experience preferred.

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience.
