This is an exciting opportunity in Galesburg, Michigan for a Strategic Sales Liaison - Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies.

Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Work closely with Field Sales and Marketing Communications to develop segment based selling strategies, presentations and supporting selling tools (product highlights, features / benefits, competitive comparisons, etc.). Target segments, e.g. school bus, vocational and specialty vehicle.

  • Lead efforts to gain competitive market intelligence regarding end customer selections, drivers and preferences for Powertrain selections by market segment. Will require frequent interaction with Field Sales OEM Dealers and End Use Customers.

  • Works with Sales Management, Field Sales or Functional Excellence teams to identify and assess market opportunities, project planning, and competitive analysis. Can extend to helping sales force evaluate the value of larger / more complex deals.

  • Participate as the Sales Function lead for new automated transmission programs (PROLaunch). Includes the completion of program sales deliverables to support the on time launch and regular communication to management regarding program status and concerns.

  • Support planning and budgeting activities with Marketing Communications for promotional material, advertising, media events and trade shows.

  • Provide support in the development of the JV aftermarket strategy.

  • Works with OEM account teams to monitor customer contract terms to include cost reduction targets, productivity requirements, rebate schedules and price increases.

  • Develop and execute processes/procedures with regard to contracted services from Eaton (and whatever the future state requires), providing input into quarterly RFM meetings and tracking progress on action items

  • Miscellaneous studies to support product planning and development in the JV.

  • Responsible for the preparation of complex and interpretive sales and financial analyses and reports for their manager, the sales force, sales management, general management, and marketing. To include tracking of growth pipeline.

  • Prepares statistical reporting, including sales performance, variance explanations, and cost analysis.

  • Coordinates input from sales staff to develop comprehensive, proactive sales analytics tools.

  • Monitors the status of sales support activities to identify problem areas and adapt procedures to improve the overall performance of the team.

  • Assures good communication and coordination between account management, field sales, upstream influencers, sales management, inside sales and sales analysts (as applicable) to attain the goals of the sales strategy and culture, management of customers, sales talent management and sales operations.

  • Executes special projects as assigned.


Skills and Experience Required:


Communication Skills – Strong verbal communication and presentation skills. Ability to interact with internal sales and end use customers to advance strategic initiatives. Possesses listening and written communication skills.

Manage Execution - Solid understanding of how to manage execution. Manages the performance of self and others through the use of structured tools. Able to delegate effectively and regularly with solid support and follow through. Uses defined processes to manage execution.

Sales reporting and forecasting - Able to accurately report actual and project future sales and margin results by a relevant segmentation (i.e. product line, territory, customer or market segment)

Market Analysis - Familiar with the primary competition in the market. Aware of regulatory, political, and other environmental pressures currently at work in the market(s) of interest.

Project management - Has a good understanding of and effectively applies project management techniques in low to moderately complex projects. Applies the principles, techniques, and procedures of each knowledge area of project management, and is able to use the tools appropriately as part of their work. This person is able to perform effectively under the guidance and with limited assistance from functional specialists.

Financial analysis - Applies financial analysis as part of their work. Has more than one year experience with analyzing financial data. Understands what data is needed for an analysis and is able to gather relevant data. Is able to draw conclusion from analysis and effectively communicate the results with limited assistance. Able to use MS Excel functionality.

Analyze issues - Solid understanding of how to analyze issues. Demonstrates use of analysis skills to learn and analyze information in a timely way. Understands complex concepts and problems and identifies how they relate to key processes. Applies accurate logic in solving problems. Differentiates what is critical and what is important while not getting bogged down in details.

Product Knowledge - Knowledge of products/services and product/service lines. Able to represent the features and benefits to sell the products and services. Able to recognize customer needs and suggest product applications to solve problems and create benefits for the customer.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field required.

  • Sales experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
