This is an exciting opportunity in Fridley, MN for a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) Systems Engineering Manager/TPL. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.

Manages single discipline staff engaged in various engineering projects and assignments.
Applies advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices in one or more of the following areas: development and maintenance system level requirements; development of system level verification and validation plans; architecture and generation of concept designs and functional allocation of system requirements; and/or development of system interface agreements, installation / application guidelines and quality assurance procedures.
Leads a medium size technical group and works under broad direction.
Establishes employee performance standards; works collaboratively to set goals and to address areas of deficiency.
Influences business-area leadership decisions.
Manages financial controls and risk, ensuring operations are executed within established budget.
Identifies issues, problems, and opportunities to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Formulates employee and department development plans for transferring technical knowledge.
Coaches and motivates employees; provides guidance and direction on resolving problems and issues.
Delegates and assigns work, considering employee skills and development needs.
Advises leaders regarding the identification and resolution of complex problems.
Works with employees to establish their individual development and career plans.
Assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.
Skills and Experience Required:
Significant level of relevant work experience, including supervisory experience, required.
This person will be the technical project leader for the development of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell balance of plant (BOP) system. As such the ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of advanced thermal chemical systems, processes and electronic controls.
The candidate will be leading a cross functional team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers in the development of the fuel/air handling and thermal management of a high temperature solid oxide fuel cell.
A working knowledge of electronic controls, thermal management, fluid dynamics and chemical/thermodynamic energy conversion processes.
Working knowledge of fuel system and air handling components, sensors and actuators.
Working knowledge of heat exchanger design and modeling.
Hybrid electric power generation and energy storage knowledge is a plus.
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
Masters, PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Engineering and/or Management required. Green Belt certification required.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
