Mobile Power Materials Manager

Description

Lead efforts within one or more Supply Chain functions including materials, production, inventory, logistics, demand management and order fulfillment. Ensures internal and external customers' expectations and requirements are met from end to end in each of the supply chains.

Manage daily operations across functions to ensure a dependable and efficient supply chain.

Lead continuous improvement projects that align with Cummins Operating System and Functional Excellence direction and leverage common processes tools, and information systems.

Support Corporate Supply Chain initiatives and lead the cross Business Unit planning processes to ensure intra-company alignment.

Mitigate long term supplier constraints by collaborating with functional stakeholders.

Create common supply chain processes and procedures by establishing collaborative business partner relationships.

Approach daily problem solving and continuous improvement opportunities strategically and tactically to achieve performance targets.

Develop, understand and improve necessary Key Performance Indicators.

Analyze operational trends and develop corrective action plans.

Address supply chain failures promptly to ensure operations stability; escalate as appropriate.

Prepare and manage an annual operating plan including expense resources, and capital.

Manage, coach, and develop staff; work with employees to set goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.

Inventory Management and Optimization - Uses analytics and algorithms to determine the optimal level of inventory investment across the end-to-end supply chain within specific constraints (warehouse space, customer delivery, etc.); provides guidance and expertise on planning parameter refinement; develops inventory strategies to support Cummins' strategy and not just a business unit strategy.

Materials KPI Management - Operates in relation to recent or historical outputs as compared to expectations of the organization to determine next steps to drive improvement; assesses gaps to the supply chain performance against the expectation of achieving target deliverables; interprets KPIs to understand end-customer impact; strategically balances trade-offs to influence one KPI while minimizing the impact to others.

​Materials Planning Parameters - Aligns parameters (minimum order quantity, multiple order quantity, lead time, part cost, etc.) to balance the supply and demand plans while stabilizing the supply chain; runs changes to parameter settings in the planning environment and analyzes the impact to customer delivery and inventory.

Supply Chain Knowledge - Influences, with the ability to concisely explain and/or elaborate on, the multi-disciplined and end-to-end integration of the flow of information, products, and services to achieve the desired result for the end customer within the first-fit or aftermarket business segments while balancing the tensions of inventory, cost, and delivery.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

B.S or BA in applicable field, MBA preferred

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Significant level of relevant work experience required.

  • The selected candidate will be a key member of the Mobile Power Supply Chain Leadership Team.

  • Primary objective of this role is to insure effective production scheduling for all manufacturing assets managed by the Mobile Power business at Fridley & Elkhart.

  • Fridley Consumer Master Scheduling & Production Planning team will report directly into this role; other direct & strong dotted line relationships will be added as required to enable seamless material/information flows through the end-to-end Mobile Power supply chain.

  • The selected candidate will have responsibility for establishing effective working relationships with Fridley Consumer Operations, Elkhart Plant, Fridley Materials Planning, Purchasing/Supply Continuity, Customer Order Management and Mobile Power Sales teams.

  • Candidate should possess strong experience in process design/improvement & demonstrated change management utilizing Oracle ERP/ASCP configuration, as well as Power BI.

  • Preferred work location Fridley, MN with regular interaction with personnel in extended Mobile Power supply chain; will consider hybrid/remote applicants contingent upon expectation of regular on-site interaction with Fridley & Elkhart resources.
