This is an exciting opportunity in Fridley, MN for a Fuel Cell Electrical Leader. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering & research Technology projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Applies highly specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices to assigned tasks to develop and support activities in the area of electrical & electronics engineering. This may include one or more of the following: Developing the electrical and electronics specifications. Designing electrical and electronic systems and components. Analyzing and simulating electrical and electronic capabilities. Implementing and generating software.

  • Verifying and validating controls, hardware, or software. Tuning controls. Releasing controls, hardware, or software. Troubleshooting controls, hardware, or software issues. Design and Analysis of Electric Generators/Alternators and motors, Electrical Circuit Design, Open and closed loop controls.

  • Leads large or multiple engineering projects.

  • Performs as the local technical expert for one or more engineering specialties.

  • Solves complex problems impacting multiple projects.

  • Communicates with and influences key external stakeholders and business leaders.

  • Drives and manages system level requirements for projects or programs.

  • Makes critical program-related decisions. Collaborates with industry peers within their discipline. Advances the state of the practice for the technical discipline.

  • Sets strategic direction for a program or technical discipline.

  • Advises and transfers knowledge of engineering discipline; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.Advises leaders for resolution of complex business problems.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

Master's degree or equivalent advanced degree in Engineering required

Experience

Significant level of relevant work experience required. Ten or more years’ experience in a similar discipline expected.

  • This person will be the electrical leader for the development of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell balance of plant system. As such, the candidate should have a working knowledge of advanced industrial processes and electronic controls. The candidate will lead a team of Electrical Engineers in the development and validation of the fuel/air handling and thermal management of a high temperature solid oxide fuel cell.

  • Develop and manage the electrical system (hardware and software) deliverables

  1. Accountable for the electrical, software and environmental performance

  2. Contribute to the selection, design and optimization of electronic system architecture and design for current and future products

  3. Define and execute applicable validation plans

  4. Lead technical coordination meetings and periodic design reviews

  • Knowledge of real-time embedded systems, solid state devices, microprocessors, and switched-mode power electronics principals

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Hybrid electric power generation and energy storage knowledge is a plus.

  • System and component modeling experience in Matlab / Simulink is a plus.

Salary commensurate with experience plus bonus.
