We are looking for a talented Mechanical Technician to join our team specializing in product testing for our Cummins Power Generation Plant in Fridley, Minnesota.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Prepares test articles for test, including initial build and final teardown.
Responsible for installing instrumentation into test articles per relevant engineering standards.
Assists in testing in accordance with established test procedures and methodology.
Prepare test articles and associated fixtures, rigs, and equipment for testing.
Demonstrates an understanding of the function of test equipment and the contribution of the test equipment to the validity of test results.
Demonstrates knowledge of the functioning of the product under test to assess the contribution of the product to the validity of the test results.
Performs test stand installation, troubleshooting and setups and the upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment.Performs other duties as required.
Set up test objects to make them functionally work in lab environment
Learn acoustical test standards and test procedures
Check calibration status of test equipment, and work with external vendors to keep them calibrated
Maintain test tools, equipment, and inventory supplies
Collaborate with acoustics engineers and product teams to conduct the acoustic test in scheduled time frame.
Think and lead function excellence projects to help improve the test setup/process
Assist in all areas of testing to gain experience
Attend internal and external work-related training courses
Document and update the test working instructions
Follow 5s and keep lab a safe and clean working environment
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
Ability to operate heavy duty equipment, such as folk lift, crane etc
Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds
Good computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite
Experience in large machinery assembly (power generator) will be preferred
Experience with sound testing and measuring.
Strong mechanical experience.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
