This is an exciting opportunity in Fridley, Minnesota for an Acoustic Technician position.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

The acoustic technician’s role will involve Acoustic systems’ set up for acoustic data acquisition and Mechanical Set up of the gensets and HHP engines. For this position, Mechanical skill sets are required and also an aptitude to learn and acquire new acoustic fundamentals concepts and experimental techniques. Acoustic measurements techniques and other skillsets related trainings will be given to newly recruited candidate.

Responsibilities will Include:

  • Responsible for assembly, set up, troubleshooting, testing and documentation of test results for testing articles (genset, sub-system, etc.).

  • Collect prototype material, fabricate and build prototypes and validate engineering drawings. Provide feedback on assembly to engineers/stakeholders.

  • Perform routine tests. Collect, analyze and interpret data per approved test plan. Make necessary adjustments (equipment, instrumentation, etc.). Review data to find any abnormalities to ensure quality.

  • Draft test reports to include findings, conclusions and recommendations. Review this with Lead Technician or manager for approval. Present information to engineers/stakeholders.

  • Independently troubleshoot and diagnose common test cell problems.

  • Identify and participate in improvement projects (quality, safety, customer satisfaction) for the department/team. Participate in Kaizen Events as assigned.

  • Follow correct safety procedures (i.e., tools, equipment, lifting, guards, protective equipment, etc.). Work safely and ensure the safety of others in the work area.

  • Responsible for acoustic instrumentation and test set ups in the Acoustical Technology Center (ATC).

  • Responsible for acoustics and vibration data acquisition in lab and test cells by using Handheld Sound Level Meter, Acoustic Intensity Probe, High-speed Multi-channel Data Acquisition System, and Accelerometers.

  • Responsible for operating and maintaining the ATC’s systems such as Air Handling, Remote Cooling, Fuel, and Exhaust Systems.

  • Effectively apply a wide range of computer tools to perform work. Gain an in-depth understanding of data acquisition by using SIEMENS’ LMS Test.Lab and B&K’s Sound Level Meter.

  • Participate in Acoustic Group’s Funnel Projects (Technology Development Projects).

  • Ensure proper documentation of test notes and related reports in accordance with appropriate standards.

  • Ensure proper and routinely calibration of test equipment’s and machines.Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum Associates technical degree in engineering or related field from an accredited program

  • Minimal experience required

  • Knowledge of diagnoses and test cell problems, maintenance and calibration of test equipment

  • Knowledge of quality and reliability principles

  • Basic understanding of engines, alternators, controls, and enclosures.

  • Basic instrumentation skills and knowledge

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (communicating to internal and external customers, peers, stakeholders, etc.)

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel & Word)

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience plus $0.70/hr shift premium is applicable for this role as a 2ndshift position.
