Our Cummins Filtration designs, manufactures and distributes heavy-duty air, fuel, hydraulic and lube filtration.
This is an exciting opportunity in Cookeville, TN for an Engineering Aide Specialist. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Supports test engineering with new product testing
Independently develops new test methods
Evaluates test results and communicates test results to a customer; Acts as a primary point-of-contact for test interpretation
Develops standard work practices and instructions in support of ISO17025/TS16949/ISO14001/COS/LOFE initiatives
Independently leads a subset of test stand installation, troubleshooting and setup, and the upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Provides support/recommendations to test engineering for equipment supplier evaluation and qualification, equipment and facility updates, and instrument specification
Manages operational functions of test engineering through supply inventory, scheduling, and ordering
Independently constructs test equipment
Provides non-standard technician training.Acts as the point-of-contact for related questions
Acts as a point-of-contact between the lab operations and test engineering groups for preventative maintenance (PM), calibration, and equipment troubleshooting
Supports ISO17025/TS16949/ISO14001 initiatives including following standard work practices/instructions
Configures and operates data acquisition systems and instrumentation
Assists in cleanliness/5S practices
Facilitates and completes unique test article fixturing and testing for Liquid PPT projects (55% time commitment) – Hands on laboratory work
Facilitates and builds prototypes (30% time commitment) – Cross-functional interaction
Works with the Liquid PPT group, dividing time equally between Fuel and Lube development, to develop test schedules, execute testing, report/present results along with collaborating with the PPT group to solve challenges and delays
Improves testing throughput by balancing testing requests with no degradation in data quality
Brainstorms and collaborates with Liquid PPT to develop and evaluate new testing methods, Design of Experiments (DOE), product technologies, and manufacturing processes
Makes critical observations, analyzes results and draws conclusions from results
Performs special projects as assigned
Skills and Experience Required:
Able to become proficient at operating
Viscometer, titrators, IFT equipment, FTIR, and particle counters
Liquid R&T test stands and instrumentation, post processing data acquired from Liquid R&T stands (Excel), and prototype building
In-depth understanding of the functioning of test equipment used to perform tests and the contribution of the test equipment to the validity of the test results
Knowledge of the functioning of the product under test to assess the contribution of the product to the validity of the test results
Fully proficient in calibration processes, procedures, and theory; Understands and troubleshoots calibration processes
Creative, flexible, and proactive
Minimum four years of relevant experience from higher education and/or employment in related field, or 6 years of relevant work experience.
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
Minimum of High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
Associate’s or Technical degree from an accredited program or higher, or comparable work experience preferred
Department of Labor Certification preferred

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
