We are looking for a talented Technical Compliance & Certification - Director - US & Canada to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Corporate Business Segment in Columbus, Indiana. This is a hybrid role and requires less than 10% travel.

This technical leadership position develops and delivers technical talent in a research, technology, or product development environment.
Directly manages the resources that maximize organizational productivity in support of business needs and establishes/implements longer term business strategies.
The position also includes maintaining strong working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders both within the technical function and across the broader business.
Primary responsibility is the development of technically capable people across multiple technical sites within a business unit or corporate area and making people available to perform duties necessary to satisfy the businesses technical needs.
Provides technical leadership for the business's most complex global technical challenges.Sets the direction for the development and improvement of work processes and systems across function(s) within a global business unit or across business units.
Coaches and mentors, the future technical leaders across a global business unit or corporate area. Assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.
Develops strategies, creates, or improves work processes involving activities such as resource allocation and management, organizational and business change, customer/stakeholder management and knowledge management; all used for the purposes of enabling high quality decision making that meets business expectations.
Decisions made in this role may include resource deployment cost and timing allocations, project prioritization, personnel staffing, and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) management, the result of which can impact project cost and delivery within a site or across several sites within a business unit.
Establishes employee performance standards; works collaboratively to set goals and address areas of deficiency.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Product Development Execution, Monitoring and Control - Plans, schedules, coordinates and executes the activities involved in developing a product to a respectively aligned hierarchy of requirements and technical profiles; monitors and communicates across functional boundaries to meet project resource and quality expectations; ensures product capability meets or exceeds expectations and takes mitigating actions when project risks are higher than expected; understands the full product life cycle process and stakeholders.
Product Verification and Validation Management - Develops product systems validation plans from a variety of inputs to identify failure modes, while managing product risk and relative priority; negotiates product requirements against capability to guide project scope; evaluates analytical, simulation and physical test results to verify product capability and validate requirements; assesses legacy versus proposed system solution capabilities and produces recommendations with technical documentation to support product decisions.
System Requirements Engineering - Uses appropriate methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed; establishes acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation and negotiation; tracks the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle; assesses the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources; creates and maintains information linkages to related artifacts.
Technical Documentation - Documents information based on knowledge gained as part of technical function activities; communicates to stakeholders with the goal of enabling improved technical productivity and effective knowledge transfer to others who were not originally part of the initial learning.

Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Proven leadership as a Technical Advisor or Technical/Engineering Senior Manager working in a product, technology, or engineering service area with a successful track record of developing technical talent and enabling high performing teams that deliver on project expectations through a range of varying business scenarios and/or life cycles.
Advanced level proficiency in many of the enterprise and functional competency areas.
Manages team of 40 exempt with 6 exempt direct reports
Lead all US / Canada Certification & Compliance activities for On-Highway and Off-Highway platforms.
On-Highway includes Products from B to X, engine dyno and chassis dyno certified, Emissions and OBD certification, all fuels.
Off-Highway includes Products from F2.8 to K95, Diesel and Natural Gas, Nonroad / Stationary / Marine / Locomotive applications.
New technologies such as BEV, fuel cell, and H2 ICE
Lead high-level agency escalations on topics as needed to support Cummins business needs.
Teaching / mentoring team members to grow in their capacity / capability to work issues with their agency counterparts.
Providing varying forms of subject matter expertise
Agency / Certification / Compliance expertise and acting as Voice of the Regulator to Cummins BU's
Support regulatory development and alignment with counterparts internally (ie. Reg Affairs) and externally (eg. EMA, SAE)
Prioritizing adherence of compliance obligations to EPA and CARB
