This is an exciting opportunity for Reliability Engineering Technical Advisor - #IN751 in Columbus, Indiana

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Lead critical reliability activities within new product development in order to meet user and stakeholder reliability expectations.

  • Obtain input and negotiate with new product technical and core teams and deliver plans to meet critical reliability deliverables to new product development leadership.

  • Use systems engineering knowledge and expertise to make key decisions in the areas of technical product problem solving, detection, and correction that impact overall new product reliability and program resource plans and timing.

  • Create, manage, improve, and apply processes such as quantitative reliability analysis and failure reporting and correction action systems and tools required to support the processes and enable high quality engine decision making.

  • Define and lead a process to record, prioritize, and resolve product failures using cross-functional design reviews, rigorous problem-solving methods, failed parts transfer processes, data management tools, and project management practices to effectively and efficiently improve the reliability of the engine product.

  • Lead complex Product Failure Mode Avoidance processes by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, noise factors, and prioritized potential failure modes and potential failure causes for the mechanical system of interest to improve product reliability.

  • Plan and manage product reliability activities during new product development by preventing failures before hardware, detecting failures before the user, and improving products before production in order to release a reliability and durable product.

  • Evaluate key technical and program measures to assess the launch readiness of a new products using prescribed indicators, measures, risk scales, and methods of tracking to focus attention on metrics to reduce risk and improve reliability.

  • Develop system level reliability test plans by considering schedule, number of units, applications, noises, and locations to find unknown failure modes to improve reliability.

  • Analyze complex failure data from existing and new products by establishing failure rate models for use in assessing the feasibility of meeting reliability targets, comparing the reliability of product alternatives, estimating reliability and product coverage costs, identifying emerging issues, and verifying improvements implemented have had desired reliability improvement.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Position requires aMaster’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or related fieldand5 years of experience as a Mechanical, Product, or Reliability Engineer, or related position.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering,or related field and 7 yearsof experience as a Mechanical, Product, or Reliability Engineer, or related position.

WORK HOURS: 40 hours/week - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience plus bonus.
