Functional Safety Product Specialist

Description

We are looking for a talented Functional Safety Product Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Engine Business Unit in Columbus, IN / your remote home office within the US. This Functional Safety (FuSa) management role will be primarily responsible for ensuring product-dependent safety activities required to achieve functional safety are performed, and compliance with ISO 26262 is achieved.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Technical lead responsible for developing functional safety-related work products throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Work with systems engineering to understand the expected features and functions specific to a vehicle program.

  • Collaborate with the customer during the development of Development Interface Agreements (DIAs), Hazard and Risk Assessment (HARA), and Functional Safety Requirements (FSRs).

  • Engage with core engineering engineers in driving technical content for the Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs), hardware requirements, software requirements, and deriving ASIL metrics.

  • To understand high-level safety implementation at a system level and transition to low-level architecture.

  • To understand how safety requirements are applied to low-level hardware and software.

  • Oversee the integration, validation, and testing activities between component hardware and software.

  • Maintain a single source Safety Plan tracking the overall safety work at the ECU, system, and component level.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

  • Minimum 3 years of prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.

  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

  • This role will be expected to be certified or soon be certified as Functional Safety Certified Automotive Engineer per ISO 26262.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
