This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, IN for an Electrical (Harness/Junction Box) Design Engineer . Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.

  • Applies specialized knowledge of engineering principles andpractices across various areas and projects in the design, development,analysis and release of products and subsystems through the product life cycle.

  • Creates design specifications considering application, cost, weight,performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service.

  • Verifies designusing analysis and or functional testing, interprets results, drives decisionsand assesses risk.

  • Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functionaldisciplines to resolve product issues.

  • Evaluates customer needs and alignsrequirements with identified customer expectations.

  • Applies technical expertise on complex componentsor projects with minimal supervision.

  • Leads small projects or portions of large projects.

  • Provides technical direction for a project or aproject team.

  • Participates as a key contributor and isaccountable for project success.

  • Influences at department or program managementlevel.

  • Provides input on program-related decisions.

  • Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineeringdiscipline(s) and leverages expertise on other projects.

  • Troubleshoots complex problems and recommendsappropriate actions.

  • Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coachesand mentors less experienced engineers.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Intermediate levelof relevant work experience required, such as responsibility for severalcomponents of a project or a complex component of a project.

  • The successful candidate must have the ability to work quickly andefficiently with a high level of precision, have strong interpersonal andcommunication skills, be detail oriented, and not afraid to re-definetradition.

  • The Electrical Design Engineer is also expected to get their hands dirty –working with the integration engineers, technician staff and others in thecross functional team solve complex problems with expediency to assure highquality and innovative pilot vehicle integration.

  • Working with the Electrical Engineer, the role will be expected to developthe full electrified (HV and LV) 2D schematics, 3D routing in the vehicle modeland subsequently harness build and verification on the board.

  • The candidate must be highly self-proficient in PTC CREO Schematics (2D),CREO Piping and Cabling (3D), and moderately proficient in CREO HarnessManufacturing (HMX).

  • Hands on harness fabrication and rapid prototyping experience is a plus todesign the type of systems we will be working with.

  • Successfully candidate must be innovative and willing to move the bounds oftraditional thinking.

RequiredEducation, Licenses or Certifications

Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in engineering required.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
