This is an opportunity based in Columbus, IN for an EBU Accounting Policy Director. We are seeking asubject matter expert to work with the business and others in Finance to identify, describe, resolve, consult and document highly complex accounting issues and transactions.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Monitors latest accounting regulations; analyzes the impact of new/emerging regulations on the company and proactively develops policy to address accounting regulations.
Works with others in Finance to identify, describe, and resolve complex accounting issues; interprets existing policy and applies to new situations; documents and publishes new policies.
Maintains strong relationship with external auditors; confers with external auditors on various structures and alternatives; documents transactions and decisions.
Prepares and leads training sessions for company-wide finance personnel on U.S.
GAAP requirements and accounting policies.
Drives the continuous process improvements to mitigate risks throughout the organization.
Recruits, selects, develops, manages, motivates, coaches, and mentors managers; provides guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegates works assignments considering employee skills and development needs.
Evaluates various highly complex transaction structures against Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and best practice internal controls; recommends alternative structures to meet business and financial needs while complying with accounting principles and regulations; leads in reviewing structures and alternatives with external auditors.
8 plus years of complex accounting and transaction experience
Significant relevant work experience, including managerial and budgetary experience required
Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position:
The Engine Business Unit (“EBU”) Accounting Policy Director is integrated within the EBU business as a subject matter expert. This role works directly with the business to directly support the financial performance and financial accounting of our largest business unit with annual sales in excess of $10 billion. The role directly reports to business unit leadership and the role supports business unit leadership and Corporate financial leadership by assisting the business with highly complex accounting issues and transactions including: (i) commercial arrangements, (ii) acquisitions, divestitures, (iii) legal matters, (iv) product innovation, and (v) other areas including Supply Chain. The role is responsible for ensuring consistent application of US GAAP and Cummins policies and procedures across all regions and functions. This role requires strong leadership and business partnering skills, ability to work with multiple regions and multiple stakeholders.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting required
Certified Public Accountant or equivalent certification required
Compensation and Benefits
Base annual salary commensurate with experience plus annual variable compensation.
