This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Director, IT Computing Services.

§This leadership role of Director – Computing Services is accountable for IT infrastructure and operations (I&O) for the areas of Server Computing and Storage Services in the enterprise. The head of computing services is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of all third-party and internally managed IT infrastructure within the scope of the computing services organization used to support business process and services across the enterprise.

  • The advent of technologies, such as the cloud and the Internet of Things (IoT), and the pivot to lean and agile organizations led by the DevOps movement requires a broader set of skills and experience for this leader. The candidate should have experience managing & mentoring an IT Engineering or Automation department leading a team of strong technology experts to solve business problems at scale via technology and code.

  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate how they translate business issues into clear objectives which engineers can solve.

§This role needs to develop a meaningful and collaborative partnership with the business, IT supporting the business and functions and requires a business-focused mindset and the desire to overcome the barriers. This role needs to establish strong partnership with key technology vendors

§This leadership role requires solid financial acumen and is responsible for making the right investments that define the future technology platforms for the organization



Sets the mission and vision of the Computing Services organization to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques.

Leads the development of the I&O service strategy and technical roadmap for the computing services organization, and ensures its integration with the overall IT and enterprise strategic plans.

Works with the IT senior leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources, including budget.

Acts as a trusted advisor, and builds and maintains relationships with other IT leaders and business executives to develop a clear understanding of business needs. Ensures cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs, and is able to respond with the agility required to address changing business priorities.

Creates an I&O value map by linking targeted business outcomes with the future-state business capabilities required to achieve them, correlated with the I&O initiatives that will deliver them.

Develops and controls the annual operating expenditure (opex) and capital expenditure (capex) budgets for I&O to ensure that it's consistent with the overall strategic objectives of IT and the enterprise, and is within plan.

Operates a formal governance mechanism to ensure that services can continue to be delivered in line with the agreed-on business outcomes.

Leverages influencing and negotiation skills across IT and the enterprise to enable cost-effective and innovative shared solutions in the achievement of business goals.

Participates in the assessment of external and internal technology capabilities required to achieve desired competitive positioning.

Maintains currency on new technologies and platforms — including artificial intelligence (AI) and edge computing — and provides direction on what emerging technologies should be assimilated, integrated and introduced in I&O. This will ensure that IT capabilities respond to the needs of the enterprise's business strategy.

Champions I&O involvement in the IT organization's innovation efforts and its role in experimenting with new solutions to take advantage of business opportunities.

Contributes to the development of an I&O sourcing strategy

Works with HR and the IT leadership team to develop an I&O "talent strategy" that aligns with the current and future business and IT strategy.


* Education*

Bachelors or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience


* Experience*

  • Ten or more years of experience in IT and business/industry

  • Five to seven years of leadership responsibilities

  • Experience managing infrastructure operations teams in the areas of Server Compute, Storage technologies. Experience with Cloud capabilities will be a plus

  • Preferably five or more years of experience in large, cross-functional teams influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders effectively across the organization and within complex contexts

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organization design and development

  • Preferably proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments

Compensation and Benefits

Base annual salary commensurate with experience plus annual variable compensation.
