This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Global Product Release Systems Solutions Leader. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Applies specialized knowledge of engineering and configuration management principles and practices across various areas and projects in the design and release of products and subsystems through the product life cycle. Product life cycle includes the initial concept through production intent designs and customer support. Creates design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service. Verifies design using analysis, interprets results, drives decisions and assesses risk. Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues. Evaluates customer needs and aligns requirements with identified customer expectations. May fill the role of product drafting specialist/leader, product release software specialist/leader, product release specialist/leader or product release analyst specialist/leader.
Applies technical expertise on complex components or projects and works under minimal supervision.
Leads small projects or portions of large projects.
Provides technical direction for a project or a project team.
Participates as a key contributor and is accountable for project success.
Influences at department or program management level.
Provides input on program-related decisions.
Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.
Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages expertise on other projects.
Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.
Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.
Product Configuration Management - The person is able to apply Product Configuration Management to a wide range of work situations. No guidance is needed and the skill can be applied at an advanced level. A person is able to train and coach others in developing and applying this skill on a limited basis. The person in the role with this skill would not be able to teach everyone throughout an organization on Product Configuration Management, nor would they be considered the person to contact as the expert on this skill.
Effective Meetings - Has user proficiency and has significant experience in effective meetings. Trains and/or mentors this skill.
Schedule Management - Identification and tracking work tasks, dependencies, and timing for a project. Awareness proficiency plus, experience in schedule management including having developed and maintained a cross-functional schedule. Should have proficiency at one or more schedule management tools. Knows the right level of detail needed to use the tool effectively. Technical project managers will have user expertise of the DVP&R as a scheduling tool.
Communication - Written And Verbal - Is able to effectively and clearly communicate in both written and verbal means.
Conflict Management - Effectively deals with conflict in a way that recognizes and manages differing opinions and ideas and refocuses them in a positive and productive manner.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, University, or equivalent degree in Engineering required. Advanced degrees are a benefit.
Intermediate level of relevant work experience required, such as responsibility for several components of a project or a complex component of a project.
Key responsibilities for this role:
Works across Global Product Release and IT organizations to translate tactical and strategic objectives into workable solutions.
Stays current with CMI strategic direction (Envision Cummins) as we evolve into a common Product Release function.
Successfully implementing business process changes as well as an emphasis on IT changes.
Lead the business through defining their processes in order to deliver the best integrated system solution.
Process improvements to convert business requirements into definable and deliverable tasks; communicate key process changes that drive business improvement opportunities.
Strong communication skills.
IT experience is preferred, including processes such as ITPM and Agile.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
