Advanced Logger Engineering Associate -(Hourly)


Functions as a Team Lead and/or performs analyses, data acquisition and interpretation, technical reporting, and maintenance of Electronic Engineering tools and standard and specialized test equipment, while positively impacting the organization's performance.

Actively functions as the team lead for all laboratory work priorities and activities, equipment and instruments calibrations and maintenance, technical reporting and documentation, and interfacing with departmental management, customers, engineers, and other teams.

Provides technical expertise and support for planning, scheduling, and testing on Electronic Systems test equipment and/or vehicles.

Utilizes advanced skills and technical expertise to perform analyses and data acquisition, provide interpretation of results, and write technical reports.

Actively mentors and trains other technicians in the use of specialized analytical instruments and equipment and test methods.

Leads, develops and applies advanced test methods to improve laboratory capabilities on specialized analytical instruments and equipment.

Ensures interactions with customers, suppliers, engineers and other functions; develops and gives technical presentations.

Ensures maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions.

Leads and participates in improvement projects; demonstrates adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs and willingness to undertake new tasks.

Leads and participates in self and team audits and associated corrective actions.

Performs other duties as required.

Embedded Software Design and Construction - Constructs embedded software using industry best practices and robust software engineering principles; verifies software updates to ensure quality products.

Product Problem Solving - Solves product problems using a process that protects the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; and identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification OR

Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR

Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR

Relevant military education and experience.


Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

The ADSC Lab is looking for someone with an innovating mindset to learn, support and help advance our high speed ECM logger systems and help drive improved robustness.

  • High Speed data logger support

o Innovate with our Lab Windows & Linux based computer loggers

o Learn, support and innovate with CANape logger software

o Implement customer support scripts

o Identify ways to improve logger robustness

o Support customers with new installations

o Support customer troubleshooting

o Debug CAN network issues

o Troubleshoot cellular problems

  • General lab project support as needed

o Supporting walk in customers with troubleshoot

o Support customers with rentals & parts via the lab kiosk

  • Processing work orders for all of the above

  • Travel may be necessary, but is typically local and only very rarely overnight

This position falls within the Office Committee Union (OCU) Base Business bargaining agreement.

All OCU-represented positions are posted internally for 10 calendar days.

Selection preference to be given to current OCU employees. Once the internal OCU candidate pool has been exhausted per the Southern Indiana OCU Labor Agreements, all other internal Cummins employees will be considered.
