Commissioning Engineer


Capable of performing commissioning / installation tests on new installations including startup, testing and documentation in a timely manner. Position will require anticipation and identification of problems and potential solutions during new product development. This will include supporting the Engineers, Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, and channel partners and liaison with customers.

Lead planning for pre-commissioning and commissioning/testing from installation through to project completion in order to meet an established deadline.

Take the lead to ensure all components are identified and commissioned/tested in a safe and timely manner.

Identify installation issues during commissioning/testing to ensure that equipment is placed in service without risk.

Ensure that finalized documentation are issued to customers and company organization.

Lead correspondence for the projects, to ensure that the appropriate action is taken.

Provide system training as required.

Document and track issues and provide this data to Warranty Improvement and product teams for action.



Communication - Written And Verbal - Significant experience in written and verbal communication and should be capable of communicating effectively to all levels within and outside the company.

Conflict Management - Effectively deals with conflict in a way that recognizes and manages differing opinions and ideas and refocuses them in a positive and productive manner.

Data Gathering And Analysis - Capable of selecting and performing the required measurements in a safe manner to determine data quality and to apply predefined applications to raw data sets.

Diagnostics - Performs diagnostic development work at an advanced level. Proficient in the application of diagnostics in a wide range of work situations. Able to lead the application of diagnostics. Able to train and coach others in the development of diagnostics skills/knowledge.

Distribution/Service Network Knowledge - Demonstrated results in communicating and working with Distributor personnel to complete performance plan objectives which require integration with the global distribution network. Can serve as a trainer/mentor for this skill.

Electronic Service Tools Product Knowledge - Utilizes proper electronic service tools to repair, maintain, and diagnose equipment. Can identify requirements for additional tools. Demonstrated knowledge of process to release new or specialized tools to meet the needs of new product releases.

Manage Customer Relationships - Manages customer interactions and relationships to maximize sales opportunities. Able to coach others to develop effective contact management habits. Consistently demonstrates ability to establish rapport, meet commitments, and develop effective working relationships with customers.

Power Electrical System & Switchgear Design (PowerGen Only)- Proficient in the application of power electrical system and switchgear design in a wide range of work situations. Able to lead the application of power electrical system and switchgear design. Able to train and coach others in the development of power electrical system and switchgear design.

Product Validation - Understands the measures of data quality, methods of analysis and available tools. Includes the understanding of the work flow required to schedule, install, setup, calibrate, and operate the equipment associated with testing.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in electrical or mechanical engineering area preferred or related technical experience in field required.


Previous experience commissioning complex projects desirable.

Responsible for initial installation support, application documentation. Additional Service Support as needed.
