Cummins Inc. Engineering Intern in Sacramento, California
Cummins Sales and Service is looking for a sophomore or higher college intern for the Sacramento office. Internship lengths is minimum of six months starting in July 2017. If the applicant selected is attending a local university, then part-time internship
during school up to 20 hours/wk. During the summer expected work hours is full-time, 40 hours/wk.
Successful candidate will apply basic knowledge of college-level science and mathematics principles and practices to assigned tasks in the design, development and validation of products as part of the Engineering team.
Assists in creating drawings and validation of test specifications considering application, cost, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service.
Creates designs using 2D and 3D CAD software and assists with prototyping activities.
Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional teams to understand customer needs. Aligns engineering requirements with identified customer expectations.
Assists all markets at Cummins on processing standard business needs and documentation.
Follow all safety regulations and use appropriate PPE
Participates as a team member and actively contributes towards team goals.
Carries out defined and moderate complex tasks.
Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate within a team.
Demonstrates good understanding and applies knowledge of science and mathematics.
Moderate CAD experience with 2D detail drawings (AutoCAD) and 3D modeling (CREO), a plus.
Exposure or background in basic manufacturing processes
Ability to document and follow common engineering processes.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite for business organization tasks. Enrolled in a BS Engineering program at a minimum of sophomore level in good standing with interest in Engineering or Science related career field is required.
