POSITION: Service Technician Truck Bay (evening shift)

LOCATION: Pointe-Claire

SHIFT: Evening shift

REPORTING TO: Supervisor, Truck Bay

FUNCTION: Completes troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop independently while encouraging knowledge sharing


  • Applies documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs

  • Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of engine

  • Completes required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten or business system input screens

  • Completes training in line with skill and business requirements

  • Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation

  • Provide technical support to the Service Department; repair, correct and update the maintenance procedures in the shop

  • Process troubleshooting, diagnostics, dismantling, inspections, cleaning and assembly of Cummins products, while ensuring that Cummins procedures are being followed

  • Strictly and accurately record all information and reports required, as per Cummins Eastern Canada processes and procedures

  • Other related tasks, as needed


  • Able to establish improvement possibilities for work processes and recommend the appropriate measures

  • Able to develop and maintain productive working relationships

  • Able to identify and solve problems with Cummins products and proceed with repairs according to Cummins standards

  • Ability to prepare reports providing feedback on service interventions

  • Ability to repair, correct and process the maintenance and repair procedures on mechanical and electronic engines

  • Ability to improve oneself according to Cummins certification requirements

  • Focus on customer service, able to present a professional image

  • Good communication skills, verbal and written

  • Bilingual (French/English), verbal and written is considered an asset

  • Capacity to work in a stressful environment

  • Good computer skills

  • Able to work outside of regular working hours


  • Possess a DES (Diplôme d’études secondaires), level 5.

  • Possess a DEP (Diplôme d’études professionnelles) in mechanics for heavy vehicles or heavy machinery

  • Possess a ASP (Attestation de spécialisation professionnelle)

  • Possess a valid driver’s license


  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in diesel mechanics ; Cummins experience is considered an asset
