This is an exciting opportunity in Memphis, TN for a Project Coordinator, Materials Planning. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading supply chain projects.

  • _ Applies developing business process and project management skills within an area of business or technical specialty. Manages small portions of well defined projects. Provides administrative and logistics support for a project team and project manager.

  • _ Serves as a resource on projects and work assignments; employs basic knowledge of effective project management and general business understanding.

  • _ Identifies, tracks, and works with others to resolve project issues.

  • _ Monitors and communicates project status to project team.

  • _ Assists with budget planning and tracking, research, and analytical support; provides input into the design and development of project plans and timelines.

  • _ Assists with managing project risk; uses quality tools to identify areas of risk.

  • _ Documents and shares team learnings with other teams; draws on other experiences to enhance the success of the project.

  • _ Maintains project notes, databases, and other records; monitors measures and communicates with Project Manager on status of specific projects and assignments.

Skills and Experience Required:

Must have specialized knowledge in design of proper packaging to protect and preserve product and the ability to maintain/reduce/report on packaging cost. Strong conceptual, analytical and technical skills with excellent communication and presentation skills.

Designs proper packaging to protect and preserve product. Responsible for continuous improvement activities to reduce potential packaging defects and improve packaging standards. Works with suppliers to ensure all product requirements are met, while monitoring, maintaining and reducing packing costs. Define returnable container fleet size requirements considering logistics and inventory stocking levels. Develop plant specific packaging guidelines complying with Corporate Guidelines while considering safety, plant specific racking, and equipment constraints.

Will work with direct & indirect suppliers to assure supplier conformance to packing/packaging specifications; provide packaging cost quotes as needed using Cummins approved packaging vendors. Improves packaging performance with attention to vendor relations, material and part specifications and line efficiencies. Coordinates with other Cummins sites to standardize packaging on common part numbers. Ensure ISPM#15 phytosanitary requirements on international shipping are met for inbound & outbound packaging.

Monthly reporting of packaging KPI’s. Identify costs or changes to packaging standards that impact packaging performance metrics.

Work with Profiling Team to maintain and improve part-profiles (dimension, wt, quantity pack, etc) data for all active parts.

Monitor, maintain and improve all packaging Bill of Materials to ensure match between physical packaging and system; working with inbound to reduce cost and increase packaging productivity.

Regularly review and update for best of Quantity Packs and cost of business (as per established standards) and communicate with other CGL facilities, OEM customers, and materials group.

Support PIM project team to reach standardization of parts master data globally.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience .
