This is an exciting opportunity in Indianapolis, IN for an Accounting Policy Director.

As a subject matter expert, the Accounting Policy Director works with the business and others in Finance to identify, describe, resolve, consult and document highly complex accounting issues and transactions.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter, technically excellent, an outstanding communicator, a creative thinker and business leader who can leverage his/her experience and unique "know how" to build consensus across the finance function. At the same time, she/he must be a hands-on pragmatist, grounded in facts, establishing productive and credible connections across the entire business.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides technical accounting and internal control guidance to business; collaborates with global business partners to identify, describe, and resolve complex accounting issues.

  • Performs monitoring controls to proactively identify accounting & control issues and risks; works with business to implement processes to mitigate risks.

  • Evaluates various highly complex transaction structures against Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Collaborates with business to develop alternative structures to meet business and financial needs while complying with accounting principles and regulations

  • Analyzes the impact of new/emerging regulations on the company and proactively develops policy to address accounting regulations.

  • Interprets existing policy and applies to new situations; documents new policies.

  • Maintains strong relationship with internal / external auditors; confers with auditors on complex accounting matters; documents transactions and decisions.

  • Develops and leads training sessions for company-wide finance personnel on U.S. GAAP requirements and accounting policies.

  • Drives the continuous process improvements to mitigate risks throughout the organization.

  • Develops, manages, motivates, coaches, and mentors finance staff; manages one direct report and multiple indirect reports across business unit; delegates works assignments considering employee skills and development needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6-10 years of hands on experience in public accounting.

  • Strong technical and financial skills, analytical ability, in depth knowledge of accounting and controls.

  • CPA or equivalent certification required.

  • In-depth knowledge of systems, processes, and best practices within an international organization.

  • Successful track record in managing complex and high growth environments (revenue and margins).

  • Strong general business acumen; excellent understanding of industry, financial risk assessment/management, P&L, and budgeting.

  • Strength in researching, understanding, and succinctly explaining complex situations.

  • Excellent presentation, preparation, and delivery skills; well organization, self-directed and articulate.

  • Honest, ethical, and straightforward leader and educator.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting required. MBA preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Base annual salary commensurate with experience plus annual variable compensation.
