  • Applies specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices across various areas and projects in the design, development, analysis and release of products and subsystems through the product life cycle. Creates design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service. Verifies design using analysis and or functional testing, interprets results, drives decisions and assesses risk. Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues. Evaluates customer needs and aligns requirements with identified customer expectations.

  • Applies technical expertise on complex components or projects with minimal supervision.

  • Leads small projects or portions of large projects.

  • Provides technical direction for a project or a project team.

  • Participates as a key contributor and is accountable for project success.

  • Influences at department or program management level.

  • Provides input on program-related decisions.

  • Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages expertise on other projects.

  • Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.

  • Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience required, such as responsibility for several components of a project or a complex component of a project.

  • This person will be one of the core team members in Test & Instrumentation Dept. of CE Tech Foundations. He/she will be responsible for the base layer technical platform hardware/software technical development and upgrade. The technical platform will be supporting all EOL, parametric, loopback, DVP&R, and EMI/EMC testing for Cummins Electronic controls and some of the end products.

  • He/she will also be doing application layer development as well. Need to be familiar with the global manufacturing production process and provide all necessary support per project required.

  • He/She will be responsible for internal project management on the assigned project. Working with cross function teams (sometimes, even external contractors and suppliers) to setup plans and update status; Self-motivated and take initiative on problem solving; good time and quality control on deliverables. Can work independently on most assigned projects.

  • Follow all FEP and documentation requirement during the project. Take initiative on driving new FEP and/or improve existing FEP. Take ownership of some of the ESWs, DPs, and or ETs. This is based on case.

  • Coach and mentor low level engineers and technicians. Work closely with team members. Be able to work with global teams at different time zones.

  • Innovation and new technology. It is encouraged to keep refreshing knowledge and technical skills due to the rapid change in controls technologies. Innovation is also highly encouraged to keep test system solutions to use the latest emerging technology and match the world class.

  • Be familiar with industrial standards and deliver quality results to meet the industrial standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Electrical and Computer Engineering.

  • 5-7 years of working experience in related area. PCB controls design, testing, etc. Understand the PCB circuitry; Able to do analysis and troubleshooting.

  • Familiar the use of most typical electrical instruments. For example, scope, functional generators, spectrum analyzer, power analyzer, etc.

  • Strong programming background. C , VS.NET, LabVIEW, etc. Good understanding of communication programming, serial, USB,etc. Have some database and net service knowledge. Able to write complex functional programs. The programming languages previously used are not important. It is important to demonstrate logical and programming capability.

  • Good communication skills and team work. Understand the project handling process.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

PhD, Masters of Science, Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in engineering required.

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience .
