This is an exciting opportunity in Fridley, MN for a Customer Engineering Leader. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Manages single discipline staff engaged in various engineering projects and assignments. Applies advanced knowledge of technical engineering principles and practices in the identification and understanding of client requirements to manage the development of technical specifications, implementing designs, and delivering high performance, low-cost equipment and system solutions integrated with customers’ solutions. Interfaces with sales and marketing teams to design and deliver client solutions. Manages the development and delivery of training on client applications.
Leads a medium sized technical group and manages team to implement leadership's vision.
Establishes employee performance standards; works collaboratively to set goals and to address areas of deficiency.
Influences business-area leadership decisions.
Manages financial controls and risk, ensuring operations are executed within established budget.
Identifies issues, problems, and opportunities to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Formulates employee and department development plans for transferring technical knowledge.
Coaches and motivates employees; provides guidance and direction on resolving problems and issues.
Delegates and assigns work, considering employee skills and development needs.
Advises leaders regarding the identification and resolution of complex problems.
Works with employees to establish their individual development and career plans.
Assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.
Skills and Experience Required:
Previous experience in electrical machines and associated genset equipment.
Substantial relevant work experience required, including leadership of a small technical group.
Broad knowledge of generator application, mechanical aspects and test methods.
Knowledge of international standards and liaison with certification bodies.
Engineering experience in design and manufacture of electrical machines.
Champion introduction of new product introductions within region.
Develop and maintain close technical relationships with key customers.
Support and develop the global infrastructure and business relationships that enable the technical requirements of customers and the market to be better understood and so provide an ongoing VoC link into VPC and VPI processes.
Liaison with global engineering group on key technical project updates, inputs and visibility for region.
Support VPC creation with regards to business justification and technical solutions.
Support OMCS with ECR process to resolve configurator issues driving quick resolution for day to day customer requests.
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
College, University, or equivalent degree in Engineering required. Advanced degree or extended specific training are preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Base hourly rate commensurate with experience .
