Tester, Cummins NPower
The Tester performs a series of mechanical and electrical tests on Generator Sets to ensure unit performs to specification and customer requirements are met.
May communicate directly with customers during witness testing and is able to explain specifications in relation to customer requirements.
Produces quality work by following defined test procedures and/or process documentation.
Understands engineering prints, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams to troubleshoot unit failures and provide resolution.
Performs unusual and difficult work where only general test methods are available and encounters situations requiring a degree of ingenuity, initiative and judgment on involved and complex jobs.
Inspects quality of own work and work of others during testing to provide feedback to assemblers and takes appropriate corrective action when quality defects are detected.
Familiar with test equipment calibration requirements.
Completes the required paperwork to track inventory, check quality, and record completion of tested unit.
Participates actively in the identification of ways in which to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development.
Ability to use forklift as needed.
Participates in all workplace safety and environmental policies and procedures by wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE), keeping work area safe and clean using 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), completing annual safety training, and reporting any risks or hazards. Understands Lock Out Tag Out.
Able to be cross trained and to work in other roles as needed.
Electromechanical 2 year degree preferred
1-3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Ability to perform and understand external test requirements. (UL, CSA, NFPA70).
Strong computer skills.
Must be able to identify non-conforming materials and or assembly methods.
Attention to detail—Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task.
Continuous improvement—Ability to look for incremental improvements in test processes.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Teamwork—Cooperates and collaborates toward solutions that benefit all involved parties and accomplish group objectives.
Strong organizational skills to manage workload to maximize productivity and efficiency.
