Supplier Quality Specialist

Description

A hands-on position that ensures inspection of components, development of quality processes, supplier quality liaison and issue resolution and elimination of defects by effectively tracking supplier quality metrics

in support of the manufacturing operations of the CDUC.

Responsible for applicable systems related to quality issues such as corrective action requests, supplier corrective action requests, nonconforming material reports, enterprise warranty processing.

Facilitates continuous improvement quality activities to reduce the potential for defects, and ensures continual improvement in process and product design.

Inspects component parts and products including incoming/returned parts, damaged goods with proper measuring tools and guidelines.

Identifies problems, prioritizes actions, and leads issues to resolution for internal and external issues.

Participates in six sigma activities and other team projects as assigned to reduce lost time due to supplier issues and production efficiency initiatives.

Documents and investigates non-conformances by completing reports and logs, inputting data into quality database(s) and evaluates reports for root cause resolution and error proofing.

Creates and conducts inspection audits of product and processes as required in compliance to ISO 9001:2015 standards.

Works with purchasing to improve the quality of purchased parts including revision level inspection and first article inspection on new parts/products as required.

Identifies, assists and provides employee training on Quality Processes related to Non-conformances and Supplier Quality.

Provides resource for quality inspection for incoming product as well as providing key problem solving for logistics product damage.

A safety champion willing to identify and correct safety concerns. Completes daily JSA/JSO observations as required.

Qualifications

Ability to read, interpret and train on engineering prints both Mechanical and Electrical including schematics.

Communication - Written And Verbal Effectively expresses messages and ideas in a clear, organized and relevant manner for a variety of audiences.

Problem Solving And Quality Improvement - Problem Solving and Improvement approaches, including understanding of Corrective and Preventive Action processes.

Serves as a quality technical resource to assemblers, sales, customers, logistics and supply chain teams.

Manage many tasks/projects with little supervision.

Tolerance of Ambiguity - Can decide and act without having all the details of a situation.

Facilitating Internal Relationships and Consensus - Basic ability to pull a broad mix of people and related skill bases together for a common purpose and goal.

Strong organizational skills to manage priorities to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Leads by example in a proactive approach and provides mitigation solutions where required.

2 year technical degree in field appropriate for the function

2-4 Years’ experience in a manufacturing environment required

Knowledge of Engine and Generator equipment manufacturing including metal fabrication and electrical schematics and prints.

Able to work in a manufacturing and office environment.
