Job Description:

  • Assists with the design and implementation of test processes of components or products in laboratory or actual usage applications.

  • Develops, maintains, and upgrades automated test cycles and architectures for application products.

  • Analyzes test results to provide recommendation and guidance in root cause of test failure events.

  • Understands end product specific functional test during assembly.

  • Requires cross functional knowledge of product engineering, quality, manufacturing engineering, and facilities.

  • Ensure all test procedures conform to safety standards.

  • Ensure all test processes comply to manufacturing standards



  • Programmable Logic Controller (Plc) Technologies - Involves understanding and being able to use factory floor Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) technologies. Detailed understanding of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based machine control and communication technologies. Able to work with consultants to specify their design and operation. Can assist in the troubleshooting of system problems

  • Fundamentals Of Safety - Comprehensive knowledge of occupational safety and health compliance, including federal regulations for general industry. Detailed understanding of how the provisions of the local workplace health and safety legislation may be implemented, rights and responsibilities under the legislation, the appeals process, recordkeeping, and voluntary protection programs. Understanding of general industry standards and the requirements of the more frequently referenced standards. Also includes knowledge of basic safety concepts such as personal protective equipment, behavior based safety, confined space entry, etc. Understands safety regulations, and applies appropriate tools and methods to ensure compliance.

  • Engine Electronics - Involves having a detailed knowledge of control software structure and hardware content to be able to navigate using available interface tools. Able to discuss functionality with controls development engineers. Understand the basics of engine control hardware and software. Able to use various interface tools to determine status of engine operation

  • Engine Functionality And Performance - Detailed knowledge of engine operations and performance evaluation. Able to evaluate performance data and determine proper operation. Understand basic engine functions and performance expectations. Can assist in the troubleshooting engine performance using standard troubleshooting tools.

  • Engine Test Control Systems - Detailed knowledge of engine test software and hardware. Able to navigate and manipulate installed systems. Understand the basics of how to set up and adjust existing systems. Can assist in the troubleshooting of system problems.

  • Sensor Technology And Measurement - Involves understanding the functionality of factory floor sensing technologies. This includes analog and digital position and process monitoring. Understand the basics of sensor function and communication. Can assist in the troubleshooting of system problems.Specialist(3): Can design with and implement sensors and measurement systems. Will specify equipment and materials for a project. Help with installation, startup, troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance and operation.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific field required.


  • 1-3 years relevant work experience required.

  • LabVIEW hardware/software experience required

  • Specific Skills:

  • Primary: Circuit/Electrical design for testing hardware

  • Ability to specify appropriate hardware for test apparatus (flow meters, pressure sensors, etc)

  • Familiarity with Cummins engineering standards

  • Ability to determine test criteria based on required component performance
