This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Cybersecurity Data Loss Prevention Associate. Cummins is where you can work on industry leading Cybersecurity information security policies and procedures.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Responsible for defining information security policies and procedures; ensures all information and data on computer systems is protected and all networks and computer systems are adequately secure to prevent unauthorized access; investigates potential security breaches and recommends corrective actions to resolve and/or prevent reoccurrences; responsible for promoting IT security awareness.

  • Provides timely detection, identification, and alerts of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities, and distinguish these incidents and events from benign activities.

  • Assists with incident triage, to include determining scope, urgency, and potential impact; identifying the specific vulnerability; and making recommendations that enable expeditious remediation.

  • Documents and escalates incidents, including event's history, status, and potential impact for further action, that may cause ongoing and immediate impact to the environment.

  • Recognizes a possible security violation or deficiencies and take appropriate action to report the incident, as required.

  • Assists in researching, identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating the protection of critical infrastructure and key resources.

  • Conducts research, analysis, and correlation across a wide variety of all source data sets (e.g., indications and warnings).

  • Participates in security reviews for initial installation of applications, systems, and networks.

  • Receives and analyzes network alerts from various sources within the enterprise and determines possible causes of such alerts.

  • Ensures all systems security operations and maintenance activities are properly documented and updated as necessary.

  • Develops positive relationships with other information technology disciplines involved in security matters.

  • Maintains knowledge of applicable policies, regulations, and compliance documents.


  • Assess Solutions Against Established Standards - The ability to understand and assess proposed solutions in order to determine how closely they meet requirements and if they will deliver the desired business outcomes. The ability to understand the organization, and its readiness, to determine what is necessary to transition to the solution.

  • Audit Methodologies - The ability to inspect and evaluate an assertion of fact using a mixture of qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. The ability to apply such techniques using appropriate judgment to produce accurate and consistent conclusions regardless of the nature of assertions being evaluated.

  • Risk Management - The identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks followed by coordinated response to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of unfortunate future events.

  • Investigation - Able to lead a systematic and thorough process to learn the facts about something complex or hidden.

  • Troubleshooting - Able to diagnose and problem solve issues with computer hardware or software components with little or no direction. May require ability to install, configure, or disposition of server or client pc infrastructure and application issues.

  • Research - Able to conduct a process of steps used to collect and analyze information to increase our understanding of a topic or issue.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimal relevant work experience required. 1-3 years of experience

  • Monitor Data Loss Prevention (DLP) systems for alerts and indication(s) of the inappropriate transfer or removal of data from an approved computing devices, data storage environment(s), use of unapproved data storage containers, etc...

  • Conducts analysis of DLP system(s) alerts and indications to validate that the detection and prevention system(s) correctly captured and detected the inappropriate transfer or removal of data.

  • Document analytical findings through various formats to support near term incident response and longer term DLP strategy for the proper operation and enhancement of DLP monitoring capabilities development.

  • Develop and deploy new DLP rules and policies that will be implemented to detect unauthorized activity and generate the development of alerts and data to support and validate the detection.

  • Responds to request that support cyber incident response procedure, forensic computer examination, and coordination with in the cybersecurity organization, data owners, business stakeholders, and other appropriate organization elements and staff.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Information Technology, Business

or a related subject required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience .
