This is an exciting opportunity in Avondale, AZ for a Product Application Engineer.

  • Applies specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices across various areas.

  • Supports projects in the identification and understanding of client requirements to develop technical specifications, implement designs, and deliver high performance, low-cost equipment and system results integrated with customers’ solutions. Interfaces with sales and marketing teams to design and deliver client solutions.

  • Develops and delivers training on client applications.

  • Applies technical expertise on complex components or projects with minimal supervision.

  • Leads small projects or portions of large projects.

  • Provides technical direction for a project or a project team.

  • Participates as a key contributor and is accountable for project success.

  • Influences at department or program management level.

  • Provides input on program-related decisions.

  • Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages applications expertise on other projects.

  • Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.

  • Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience Required:

  • This position supports the Engine Business Sales group by providing technical guidance to the Industrial Sales Rep for NV, AZ, NM.

  • Product Integration, Verification & Validation - Understands and applies processes. tools/ skills involved in verifying and validating a solution to a problem, which is embodied in the statement of the requirements, has been developed. Testing is a multi-stage process that consists of activities for validating the product, from the most primitive elements up to the fully integrated system. The verification / validation includes activities such as component testing, integration testing, system testing, performance testing, acceptance testing, and installation testing.

  • Systems Definition And Design - Understands and able to apply the basics of the system design process including requirements allocation and architecture, capability determination through system modeling and testing including Integrated Design Failure Mode And Effects Analysis (iDFMEA).Capable of assignment of functional requirements from system to subsystem, subsystem to component and management of interfaces. Methods and tools include boundary diagrams, function and interface analysis, critical parameter flow, Pugh Concept Selection and Inventive Problem Solving, Design Structure Matrix, iDFMEA and FTA.

  • Manage Execution - Demonstrated results indicating deep knowledge of managing execution. Coordinates performance across regions, teams, and departments on complex projects and work flows. Applies a broad range of planning and monitoring tools. Defines planning and review practices that result in few missed milestones and minimal surprises. Effectively delegates to ensure completion of complex projects and work. Monitors progress of others and redirects efforts when goals change or are not met. Measures effectiveness of execution through defined metrics and disciplined monitoring.

  • Product Knowledge - Knowledge of products and product lines. Able to represent the features and benefits of the products in terms a customer will understand. Knowledge of how the product functions and the technology used.

  • Cross-Functional Design Review - Able to carry out and coordinate a cross-functional design review at an advanced level and in a wide range of work situations without guidance. Able to train and coach others in developing and applying cross-functional design review on a limited basis.

  • Product Validation - Includes the ability to install, setup, calibrate, and operate the equipment associated with testing in accordance with standard procedures and customer requirement. Is expected to understand the concepts of rating engines and driven components such as cooling systems, alternators, etc., and be able to use this knowledge to determine the rating of a product under various conditions.

  • Analyze Issues - Solid understanding of how to analyze issues. Demonstrates use of analysis skills to learn and analyze information in a timely way. Understands complex concepts and problems and identifies how they relate to key processes. Applies accurate logic in solving problems.

  • Manage Customer Relationships - Uses appointment tracking system, documents call plans, meeting notes and action items. Has established rapport, delivered on commitments, and developed a positive relationship with customers.

  • Effective Meetings - Has user proficiency and has significant experience in effective meetings. Trains and/or mentors this skill.

  • Schedule Management - Identification and tracking work tasks, dependencies, and timing for a project. User proficiency plus, significant experience in schedule management, including ability to train and/or mentor this skill. Has dealt with more complex schedules integrating multiple sub-projects, is able to coach a should mapping exercise, and/or has an advanced level of proficiency with schedule management tools.

  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience required, such as responsibility for several components of a project or a complex component of a project

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

College, University, or equivalent degree in Engineering required. Advanced degrees are preferred.

Base Salary commensurate with experience.
